JAXB, SAAJ and JAX-RPC Project at java.net
New JAXB, SAAJ and JAX-RPC projects created in the WS and XML Community at java.net. Sun Microsystems will contribute the source code for the Reference Implementations for these technologies to these projects. The code will be under an Open Source License.

Java.net debuts
We've just launched java.net. This site is a joint venture among O'Reilly, Sun Microsystems, and Collabnet. The site features communities, projects, and content for Java developers. You'll be able to join or create projects, contribute to the wiki, and help us improve the site.

Improving Content by Removing Process: At last night's JavaOne Fireside chat, James Gosling said "there were almost no original ideas in Java. It was controlled theft." Graham Hamilton, the Sun VP who is the architect of J2SE 1.5 told Gosling that "choosing what to leave out was your best contribution." Blogs are featured in this first issue of Java Today because the entries highlight what we're trying to leave out on this site.
