Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri Preview

Alpha Centauri is among the newest in Sid Meier's series of amazing "God Games." It is a turn-based world conquest game similar to the Civilization series, published by Firaxis games, and the Linux version is currently in beta testing with Loki Entertainment Software. Loki is bringing out the Linux release to add to their great lineup of titles. Loki's release will feature both Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri (SMAC) and Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire, SMAC's official expansion pack.

What's it about? It's about steel and magic, dark corners and dimly lit hallways, shimmering pools and mystical portals. It's about you and your quest to avenge the death of your countrymen. You're a warrior and a sorcerer, and you've just come home to a village full of possessed friends and family. You're forced to kill them or be killed. Once you learn their fate you set out to avenge them...using whatever means you can muster. You'll grow stronger along the way, learn new tricks, get better aim, acquire new spells...but you still won't know what's around the next corner, or behind that door. You'll still bleed...and you can always be killed.

This game places gamers in a world of big business, expansionism and engineering in which all aspects of the railroad industry can be controlled. Railroad Tycoon II captures the authentic look and feel of the fabled late-1800's railways and focuses on industries such as coal, steel and textiles.
